Artist Statement

When I pick out a piece of wood from my collection of rescued timber I first look at the bark and see if there are any interesting shapes that might covering up the story hiding below.
After I cut a cookie off the end of the log with a chain saw to see what history of the tree has to tell me, I reduce the piece to a size that will fit on the lathe.
The grain direction, color and texture determines what the piece will become after I mount it on the lathe.
My work draws from the work of masters in wood and pottery over the centuries.
I enjoy working with clients to produce a piece that reflects their desires and budget.
